As an SLD Director of Accounting and Auditing, Robert Boragno,
has over twenty-two years of experience from national and regional
accounting firms and a national real estate syndication company.
Mr. Boragno brings to SLD extensive experience in accounting,
attestation, assurance, operational management and litigation
support services.
|
| He is considered to be an expert in
financial accounting and reporting matters, study and design of
internal control environments, investigative services for
causation of damages and damage studies. In private industry he
held the position of vice president of finance for publicly traded
real estate investment trusts and real estate limited
partnerships. His responsibilities focused on operational
oversight, financial management, property acquisitions and
dispositions and SEC reporting.
|
|
The client industries he
has served include retail, real estate, agriculture, non-profit,
high-tech, fulfillment, wholesale, hospitality and distribution.
• Technical Expert in Litigation. Legal counsel for a
defendant believed that the plaintiff’s damage claim was
unreasonable. However due to the number of years involved and
the volume of transactions, it was almost impossible to quantify
the dollar amount of the damages. Mr. Boragno, by applying
statistical sampling procedures, proved that the plaintiff’s
claim was not only overstated but also mathematically
improbable.
• Increasing a company’s cash flow. A distributor
could not understand, based on their sales volume, why the
company was operating in a deficit cash position. By department
repositioning the sales function and inventory ordering and
billing procedures, Mr. Boragno was able to demonstrate how cash
flows would increase. As a result, the company was able to
increase cash flows and reduce its operating line of credit.
• Diagnostic review for an accounting department. The
owner of a privately held business asked Mr. Boragno to assess
the structure, staffing and performance of the accounting
department which had come under heavy criticism. The diagnostic
report showed that chronic understaffing had caused the initial
problems, which had been made more acute by burdening the
accounting department with responsibilities that properly
belonged to line managers.
Robert Boragno is a CPA and a member of the AICPA, the
California Society of CPAs, associate member of the Association of
Certified Fraud Examiners, past member of the California Society
of CPAs’ Committees on banking, real estate and securities
industries. He holds a BSC in Accounting from the University of
Santa Clara. Mr. Boragno and his wife Suzanne have two children,
Nicholas and Christine.
